Land Acknowledgement
We, as citizens of Pinawa, acknowledge the land we live in. We acknowledge that 'land' is more than a word. The land is the rocks, our oldest ancestors. The land is the water, the source of all life on earth. The land is the air that sustains that life. The land is the trees, that great life force that cleans the air, protects the soil, and holds the water. The land is the great sky over all.   This is the land we acknowledge.

Today, we have the privilege to meet on the Ancestral lands of the Treaty 1 and 3 peoples.  We have gathered on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation.

We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories.  We acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and we dedicate ourselves to move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.
